A Rainy PE Lesson

Unfortunately, no sooner had Miss Eden’s class got outside for PE and started passing and dribbling drills to practise their skills, did the heavens open and it started bucketing down! We gave it a chance to pass and braved the wet, cold weather but continued. Abandon playground!

This wasn’t, by any means, the end of the PE lesson! We came in and continued to watch the ‘Top 50 Epic Football Skills’ video we had begun watching whilst getting changed. We reflected on what made the skills “epic” – was it their ball control, the team work used, that they could find spaces to pass and predict the spacing?

After this, we got back into our pairs and devised games and training strategies that gave us the opportunity to practise the skills. Not only did each pair have to explain how their game worked, but we also talked about the aim (bigger picture) and how to add parameters to extend/ change their game. We had some really imaginative ideas and the drawings don’t do them justice!
